Wisconsin has major decisions to make.  Do we turn our back on the success of individual liberties, freedoms, and individual responsibilities.  We all acknowledge our imperfections, but our ability to right what is wrong for a more perfect union or state is what defines and separates us from the rest of the world.  We govern by the people for the people, not just by Madison, for Madison, and of Madison.

We know the code words for a society, which if given their way, restrict the people they claim to want to help.  Words like "level the playing field" means taking from someone who earned it by hard work, only to give it to someone who didn’t want to put the effort to achieve on their own merit. I truly believe there should be safety nets in our society for those who cannot help themselves  However, we must also push back on the doctrine of "I’m entitled".

I’ve said liberty and freedom are like fire, they just need oxygen. And yes, those two words are what the entitlement doctrine dislikes the most. These loud voices defend our democracy with a very narrow definition of the democratic process, and only if you agree with them.  I assure you that liberty and freedom are not part of their definition.

Government with too much revenue, and out of control spending is inflationary, but the people keeping their own money is not inflationary, but economic growth.  That should be the vision of everyone in the 95th District and the State of Wisconsin.
ISSUES WE NEED TO FACE HEAD-ON

PROPERTY TAX REFORM

  • Let retirement mean retirement.  No property taxes for retirees, period.  Our seniors should not be stressed on if they could lose their house of forced to move away.
  • Unfunded mandates that the state passes on to counties. Either reverse the mandates or pay for them. And if they reimburse mandates great.  How does that help counties?  For example, if Monroe County were to receive $4M in addition funds that are currently levied on local property tax, it frees up levy dollars. Why not give back a percentage in reduction, say 25%.  That would result in a $1M levy reduction on all property tax payers.  Again, true property tax relief.

HEALTHCARE REFORM

  • There must be a better form of getting affordable healthcare.  More transparency. Cutting out the middleman in the equation if the other side is serious about affordability.  Reforming healthcare is not just throwing more money at it.

CHECKS & BALANCES

  • Discipline & accountability.  We need checks and balances when it comes to the actions of our State government in Madison.  I would like to remind them that western Wisconsin is by the people, for the people, and of the people.

EDUCATION REFORM

  • We empowered big government to run our education system in Wisconsin.  Look what it has done. It has just put more control to school boards.  Let's empower teachers to teach, not legislate them how to teach.  Many times, a teacher will be the only stable person in the student's lives. It should be a reward to lift students, not a chore.  Our bureaucratic governmental strangulation of the education system from Madison needs to end.
